Clay Helberg presenting on the latest and greatest in smartphone apps.

Nerd Nite Duluth is a monthly-ish variety show of nerdy presentations on pop culture, science and IT (or whatever topic we find fascinating), hosted on the Teatro Stage of the Zeitgeist Arts and Community Center at 222 E Superior St., Duluth, MN 55802. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30. We recommend arriving early to get a good seat.

Then the fun begins!  Hosts Mary Hall, Jeremy Nilson and Luke Sharman provide an overview of Nerd Nite, ground rules for the audience and presenters and share the lineup for the evening. Then we put individuals, teams or organizations on the Teatro stage to talk about what they are geeky about!

Armed with a projector, remote control and props, Nerd Nite presenters share stories and educational presentations about their  hobbies, current research, favorite games, scientific theories and whatever else they can bring to the stage.

Previous presentations include:

  • Christmas According to Jim Henson

  • The Satanic Panic of the 1980s

  • Raspberry Pi

  • How and Why to Bassoon

  • Entomology and Science Fiction

  • Minnesota Sports: Torture by Numbers

  • How U.S. States got their Shapes
