Consequently, we might be tempted to dismiss women in medieval literature as passive characters: the princess in the tower, the damsel in distress. But is the difference between today’s sword-wielding badass and the lady in the tapestry really that great? This presentation will provide a brief history of women in Arthurian literature before taking a closer look at some medieval heroines who are surprisingly modern.
